Specific to Project 1, I offer my vast knowledge of child growth and development and experience working with mothers and children from diverse backgrounds in a variety of settings to assist with data collection for the study and examining pediatric outcomes.

Personal Bio

Jessica S. Bahorski, PhD, APRN, PPCNP-BC, WHNP is a clinician, educator, and researcher. She has worked in primary care and school health as a pediatric nurse practitioner, as an educator in acute care pediatric settings, and a researcher on numerous studies. Dr. Bahorski is now an Associate Professor in the Florida State University, College of Nursing with a research program focused on maternal-child health. In particular, her research focuses on infant feeding practices and infant weight gain to contribute to evidence to prevent childhood obesity. Dr. Bahorski currently is the primary investigator for two multidisciplinary research teams, 1) to test a behavioral intervention to promote responsive feeding in diverse populations; and 2) to identify research priorities during the 4th trimester (birth to 3 months). Additionally, she is collaborating on a study which examines pesticide exposure on children living in rural farmworker communities. She is also passionate about finding ways to help nurses understand best practices and translate research into clinical practice.
