Personal Bio

I am interested in and trained to ask mechanistic questions about how genes and environment both contribute to the development of the brain and social and emotional behaviors. Individual differences in genetics, experience, and toxic exposures all contribute to individual differences in brain and behavior variables, with species-specific timing of neurodevelopmental events playing a key role in the impact of risk factors and resilience factors. While my own methods are basic science methods in a neuroscience laboratory with animal models, they are deeply informed by cross-training and collaborations with researchers focused on research with humans.
