We are a community-driven team of families, researchers, and health professionals working together to improve the health of children in farmworker communities. The research and outreach is supported by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (RD-840632). Our mission is to understand and eliminate possible health and developmental threats to children from chemical and non-chemical toxicants in pursuit of optimal rural children's health and well-being.

BeRCH Overview
Research Project 1
This project will investigate the cumulative health impacts of early exposure to both chemical and non-chemical stressors in Immokalee, FL. It leverages existing toxic stress research and pediatric clinics to establish a longitudinal cohort, involving a multidisciplinary team of researchers.
Research Project 2
This project aims to develop an assessment tool for rural children at the zip code level, linking childhood experiences, housing quality and other factors to adverse health outcomes. It aims to mitigate these consequences by identifying interventions.
Administrative Core
Ensures the integration and future sustainability of the center by bringing together academic, community, and clinical resources. It aims to coordinate activities and create new programs of research, practice, and education.
Translation Core
Focuses on the development and sustainment of translation activities, including communication and full community participation. It aims to address environmental justice and health outcomes, working closely with the Florida Farmworkers Association.
